Dr Glenn Porter is a distinguished, award-winning photographer and academic whose work spans the intersection of the arts, forensic science, and visual criminology. Born in Sydney, Australia, and raised in the rural town of Silverdale, he has cultivated a rich, interdisciplinary career rooted in the power of photography as both a creative and scholarly practice. Porter’s work is deeply humanistic, capturing the resilience, complexity, and spirit of the human condition. His current projects explore photography’s role in storytelling, shedding light on social narratives with depth and authenticity. Originally trained in photography at the Sydney Institute of Technology, he has since earned multiple postgraduate degrees across the arts, science, and applied science—including a PhD in Communication Arts, a Master of Arts (Photography), a Master of Applied Science (Photography), and a Graduate Diploma in Science. His expertise is further recognised through his status as an Accredited Senior Imaging Scientist (ASIS) and a Fellow (FRPS) of the Royal Photographic Society. Porter’s contemporary photography has been showcased in leading museums, galleries, and photography festivals both in Australia and abroad. His work is held in esteemed private and public collections and has been shortlisted for prestigious international photography awards, including the Head On Portrait Award, the Olive Cotton Portrait Award, the Stanthorpe Photography Award, the Mullins Conceptual Photography Prize, and the Black & White Photo Award (Paris). In 2022, his first solo exhibition, The Holga Experiment, debuted at the New England Regional Art Museum, solidifying his presence as an innovative voice in contemporary art photography. His current projects embrace humanist photography, revealing the depth of the human spirit and the realities of social life.
